Jim Owen is the writer and director of Hostages, the independent British feature film starring Charlotte Ritchie, Tanya Moodie & Nicholas Asbury. The film premiered at Manchester Film Festival in March 2025, was the opening night gala film at london comedy film festival, and played Brighton Rocks and Dublin Independent FF. The film is being distributed by Signature Entertainment in the UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. it’s currently SCREENING on sky cinema in the uk.

Jim’s short films have screened at Sundance, where he won an Honorable Mention In Short Film-Making, at SXSW and many other international film festivals. They have been Staff Picked by Vimeo, awarded a Silver at the 1.4 Awards, featured in Wholphin, Vice and on Short Of The Week.

His commercial work includes spots for Maltesers Buttons, bbc radio 1, Smarty Mobile, Subway, McVities, The Big Issue and Denplan.
